Serve
Partners in Offering Help and Hope
The center was founded by individuals and local churches who partnered together to provide a compassionate response and tangible help to women and men in our local community who are facing an unsupported pregnancy. These people volunteered their time to offer help and hope to people in their community. Today, we provide support for a range of issues related to the reproductive and relational lives of others, and we serve people within the greater Laurel community as well as across the nation and even internationally. The commitment of dedicated people with a heart to give their time continues.
The Most Important Commitment
The LPC requires that those who serve hold to a mature, orthodox Christian faith. We are individuals who profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and are Christ-centered. Our faith informs our work, and our principles and actions are meant to reflect the Lord Jesus Christ. All personnel and volunteers who serve at the center adhere to our Statement of Faith and Statement of Principle. We ask all volunteers to attend our More than Mud seminar, which will inform you of the spiritual foundations of our mission and how we respond like Jesus Christ.

Volunteer Roles
Care Coach
LPC Care Coaches offer peer counseling and educational support to individuals experiencing a range of life events related to pregnancy, sex, reproductive loss, intimacy, and relationships. This is a primary way to serve at the center. Care Coaches serve one day a week for 2–4 hours. The LPC provides robust counseling-based training and continuing education for those serving in this role. If you are a man, we would particularly appreciate the opportunity to discuss this role with you.
Receptionist & Administrative Support
A friendly voice over the phone and a welcoming face at the door make all the difference when someone is struggling with shame or fear. LPC receptionists can serve as a bridge for those who are initially reaching out for help. Receptionists also provide vital support by assisting with data entry and other computer-related tasks. Receptionists typically serve one day a week for roughly four hours.
Board Member
Maintaining the LPC’s commitment to Christ and our commitment to our mission is possible because of the guidance, discernment, and direction of the board of directors. Board members have a mature, orthodox Christian faith and are committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. They are the rudder that allows the center to “keep the main thing, the main thing.” LPC board member positions are by appointment.
Engagement Team and Event Planning
The LPC is only able to provide care because of a network of individuals and churches that empower our mission. These partners are important to us, and we offer encouragement and support to them as well. You can be a part of the team that works with our partner community as they learn more about the LPC and provide support through prayer, giving, attending events, and serving. You can assist with events we host, or provide weekly administrative support behind the scenes to our Director of Engagement & Fundraising. Team members can serve on a weekly basis (2-4 hours) or as needed, depending on the event or activity.
Medical Care Team
Nurses partner with Care Coaches in providing pregnancy confirmation care in our clinic. Nurses conduct pregnancy testing, provide general pregnancy health education, and perform pregnancy confirmation ultrasound exams (additional training). A nurse may also be asked to consult on other medically-relevant topics as needed. Members of the medical team serve one day a week for 2–4 hours.
Class Facilitators
Parenting 101 provides a group learning experience for first-time expectant parents. Moms and dads are welcome to participate in this 8-week course. Each week, subject matter experts from our local community provide instruction. Class Facilitators are the consistent connection for participants each week. They help facilitate discussion, build relationships with participants, and provide simple devotionals. Ideally, class facilitators are a married couple who can offer their wisdom and experience to these new parents. Parenting 101 is an 8-week commitment, three times a year. Each class happens once a week for roughly two hours.
Other Opportunities
Most of our service opportunities require a regular commitment. There are seasons when we need folks who are interested in helping with events and campaigns, and other limited opportunities.
