Getting Pregnant, Fertility and Infertility
Our reproductive system is complex and not well understood by the average person. You may be wondering whether or not you are pregnant or even capable of conceiving and confused with the sheer amount of information available online about fertility. Perhaps you have heard things from friends and family and you aren’t certain which sources to trust. Or maybe you have been trying to get pregnant, and wondering why something that seems so easy for other people is not happening for you. No one should go through this alone; you deserve to have someone to talk to and confide in.
During your journey to become pregnant, it may feel that it is only too easy for some people, and you may wonder why it is not happening as easily for you. You may feel confused, overwhelmed, frustrsted or stressed. You may feel betrayed by your body, wondering why it is not doing what you want. You may feel ashamed or uncomfortable discussing this process with others, especially if they offer only advice and tell you what you “should be doing.” You may also feel envious or angry at others, or even wonder if you are being punished by God. All of these feelings are normal and common. You are not alone.
If the process of discovering what is happening in your body causes any of these feelings, it can be difficult to know where to turn for sound advice, accurate medical information, and unbiased support. At the LPC, we aim to meet your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. We provide a safe place to learn, talk about your feelings, and process your emotions.
At the LPC, we believe that shame has no place in this process or our lives as followers of Jesus Christ. We want to walk alongside you on this journey. Our Care Coaches and nursing staff can support you by providing medically accurate information on the menstrual cycle and fertility. We can also support you emotionally: through the process of trying to conceive or through the process of fertility testing, if you choose. While we do not offer fertility treatments or refer to fertility clinics, we can support you during those processes if they become part of your journey. We are here to help you process the information in a safe, neutral, private space.
When you feel you have no one to talk to about this journey, we are here to walk alongside you, to listen, and to provide the support you need to take the next steps.
